The Frankenstein movie and the book differ in many different ways. In the movie it takes place in a cemetery to make it seem dark and mysterious. The reason why the setting is there is because the moive is orginally to scare the audience. Also they tend to use thunder when something is going to happen or something is happening. In the book, VIctor is seen as a loving person that cares about his family a lot. We basically see him develop as a person throughout the reading. On the other hand, in the movie right away Victor is seen as this mad scientist who creates this monster. His family is trying to reason with him but he is so into his creation that he ignores him. His creation is seen as this hideous monster who has no good in him and only wants to destroy everything that he sees. Even though Victor tries to teach him human ways, the monster doesn't seem to get the hang of it. The monster is put into a dugeon so he won't kill anybody. As we see throughout the film the monster ends up killing people. Everyone in town is terrfied of this terrible monster.
As mentioned before, the book differs from the film. The purpose of the book is to basicaly tell Mary Shelley's life. Each character represents someone in her life and each setting represents a place in her life also. In the book, Victor has the idea of trying to raise this monster as a human. But as we continue reading, he treats the monster like an actual monster. Victor is ashamed of what he has created. The montser isn't just a monster in the book. We see that the monster has feelings. He constantly tells Victor that he does not want to be bad. He blames Victor for making him have evil tendencies. The monster wants to fit in with everyone else. Also in the book, the monster asks for a wife to have compassion towards someone. But we see that Victor denies it and the monster is out for revenge.
