Group Project

I personally believe that group projects are difficult sometimes. The reason is that we all have busy schedules and have things to attend to. So it’s hard to meet outside of class to prepare everything together. Unfortunately not everyone could attend the meet up because they have class, work, etc. I think if we had time in class to really meet up and discuss our presentation it would be helpful. During that time we would be able to get everyone’s part and put it together. Not that there’s anything wrong with group projects, I’m just saying how it could be sometimes to hard to fully participate. This group project has taught me a lot. My role was editing the work of everyone and everyone did cooperate. Everybody in the group came out strong putting this presentation together. No one was a weak link. We all came out strong as a group to put this all together. Our group ha to research about politics and Frankenstein. I feel like my group members got a better understanding on this important issue. We all learned from the political issues happening throughout the time Frankenstein came out. My understanding of the reading has increased tremendously ever since I’ve done this project. I’ve read about the political issues that occurred during the publication time of Frankenstein. Many issues are related to Mary Shelly’s book. Like the feminist, Marxist, enlightenment movement and much more. I personally focused on the feminist criticism to see their viewpoints on what they thought about the book of Frankenstein. Overall we all did learn how politics influenced Frankenstein and the way it influenced Mary Shelly to write this famous book.

Learning about the comparison of these two topics has made me really think. We each did a different topic on politics and how it related to Frankenstein. For example, I did the topic concerning the Feminist criticism on Mary Shelly’s book Frankenstein. They believed that even though a women was writing the book of Frankenstein it seemed like the viewpoint of a man. Reason being is that if it sounded like a women’s language no one would have read it because her voice wouldn’t have been heard. Also these feminists’ critics view the works of Frankenstein from both viewpoints of men and women. When it comes to writing literature females have a different perspectives. One example is the French feminists mostly focus on the language of the reading. The British feminists see the writing in a more political way than American feminists. Frankenstein has an uncertain attitude toward women’s creativity.

As mentioned before, this overall project that we put together did give us a better understanding of the reading of Frankenstein. Once we hear what everyone else has presented about Frankenstein, I believe we will have a clearer understanding of the book. It might be hard to read at first, but with everyone presenting different points of the reading it’ll be easier to read. I cannot wait to read Frankenstein and learn from it.
